Coronation of Grunge

Welcome back. It has been a long time, hasn't it? That's what happens when you get a job- you get digested into the world and forget to think. Well, that's what has happened to me anyway. So,the first song back after a long hiatus. It is a difficult choice. I would say, near impossible, but as some wise person has previoulsy stated, nothing is impossible (although I would disagree on somethings, like asking a cat to turn into a mushroom would be nigh impossible... Maybe not?).

Anyway, the song...

Crown of Thorns.

I have chosen this song due to refinding the world of early 90s music. Temple of the Dog has been a constant in the car stereo for a month or so now. It is fitting that I should choose Crown of Thorns...

The birth of the Temple... and later Pearl Jam was through the death of Mother Love Bone's Andrew Wood. Wood's death from a heroin overdose left behind an upcoming band, with two of the today's finest modern music pairings: Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament (Now of Pearl Jam).

This song is arguably the turning point from hair metal of the 80s to the 90s grunge scene. There are elements of both in the song.

I think it is also prevalent that the song is of importance to the movement of the early 90s in Seattle, by the countless covers by numerous of these bands. Pearl Jam possibly most famous of those to cover it.
